SlimFit Wokingham was created in 2014 out of a former Rosemary Conley Diet & Fitness Club and has been running community health and fitness classes in and around the Wokingham Borough to help people achieve their health goals - whatever they may be. 

After years of working as a freelance Instructor for the previous owner, Melissa Buckle bought the business with the aim of continuing to deliver fun and effective classes to the members and to grow the thriving community wider.

SimplyFit Berkshire is the new name for Slimfit - we want to show that fitness comes in many forms - not just from being 'slim' - you can absolutely be larger than a size 12 and be classed as fit!  To us, being fit is:

  • being able to go out for a walk and keep up with everyone else

  • fitting in to your favourite jeans (whatever size they are!)

  • being able to run around after your children/grandchildren

  • having enough energy to get through a busy week

  • Having great posture

  • feeling 'fit for life'!

We could go on, but you get what we're saying, the number on the scales is just one of the measurements we use to record progress.  We are also interested in your BMI, resting heart rate, general flexibility, cardiovascular fitness, how active you are throughout your day, what your nutrition looks like...

In class our fantastic instructors are the ones to help you get to where you want to be, whether it's weight-loss or a particular fitness goal you have in mind - we are absolutely here for you.  Want to find out a bit more about who we are?  Read on below...




Melissa is the owner and manager of SimplyFit Berkshire.  She brings energy to her classes and provides a fun workout that leaves you wanting to come back for more.  Her bubbly personality is infectious.  Here's what she has to say:

"Hi, I’m Melissa, I’m 43 and I live in Twyford with my husband, 6-year-old twins, and two cats!  I joined the original club back in 2011 as a participant as I was new to the area, and wanted to lose some excess weight and meet some lovely people.  Looking around, I had options such as Slimming World and Weight Watchers, but it was the additional exercise class that really appealed to me – weekly weight-loss support and accountability, as well as fitness??  The perfect combination, and all for the same price as SW and WW!

Fast forward to 2017 and I was still enjoying classes but had to give up for a while when I had my twins.  It was when I was on Maternity leave from my 20-year career at the Ministry of Defence, which I had been with since finishing university, that I was invited to join the team at SlimFit.  I was so excited (and nervous in equal measures), but I could see a new career opening up in front of me where I was tied to a desk all day and could hopefully pass on my love of group community fitness to others.

Since then, I have jumped in with both feet and now have the honour and privilege of managing this fantastic club with amazing members and a huge presence in the Berkshire community.

Alex is a happy and approachable instructor with excellent people skills and many years experience teaching group fitness both in her own classes and by providing cover to other instructors.  Her aim is to always offer a fun, safe and effective session, offering adaptations, modifications, and progressions to enable everyone to take part.

Her fitness career began in 2006 when she qualified as an Exercise to Music instructor, and in recent years has developed a love for and has been mainly teaching Pilates.  As well as Aerobics and Pilates she has experience of teaching Legs, Bums, and Tums, HiiT and Body Conditioning classes.
